i have played guitar for awhile and always loved drums. but there’s alot of 5 piece sets. and i want a set with more drums. To have moreexpressionn. would this be a good set to learn on. Listen to drummers like Buddy Rich, Bill Bruford (YES), John Bonham, Will Kennedy. They all play 4 and 5 piece sets. Most people play 4 and 5 piece sets. I’ve seen a few old drum kits on the net and a lot have a cool pearl effect on them, could i recreate that on my own drum kit… Thanks… You can recreate that effect by recovering your drums. You may want to find an old, used drum to experiment on before recovering yours. Precision drum company has many vintage finishes, including pearl finishes.

I have a 7 piece shell set Pearl world series drum kit, and some accesories and cymbals with it, the sets in GREAT condition i just dont use it anymore. I believe it was built circa 1972. Dark sky blue color. All Zildjian Cymbals. I aqcuired it used in 1976. I really need to find lugs for the bass drum. The lugs are approx. 2mm larger than the two mounted toms & 1floor tom.If it’s really a Pearl, what model is it?

I saw a Pearl Jam concert back in 1994 at the Empire Polo grounds near Palm Springs. I caught one of the drumsticks thrown by Dave Abbruzzese. I’ve had this thing 15 years. I dont play drums. I’ve thought about ebay. I only have one not the pair.

Today I discovered a drummer I had never seen before and was mighty impressed by his incredible drumming ability. His name is Steve Smith.
Steve Smith became famous for being in the successful rock band called Journey, back in the 1980s. Journey had several successful albums including the immensely popular “Escape” and “Frontiers“, both which had their own Top 40 Hits. With his inventive timekeeping and massive tom-toms, there’s no doubt Steve Smith’s ability helped drive Journey to success.

I personally like Pearl or DW, Zildjian cymbals, and Vater sticks.
I’ve been playing about 30 years and I’ve come to think there isn’t much difference between any of the quality sets. Hardware and heads are important as is the shell material. Right now I’m playing a Premier jazz set with dark pinstripe heads that I like. Not big and boomy, but good tone and I don’t mute them at all. I feel a little differently about cymbals, and really do like zildjian although I have a 20″ studio crash from Sabian that I like a lot – even though I’ve broken More >
