It’s so cool to get this insight into one of the best heavy metal drummers around. What makes it useful is that if someone like Blake Richardson is your drumming idol and if you’re one of those drummers (like me) who sits behind their drum kit, headphones plugged in, and with a fierce look of concentration on your face because you’re trying to work out “that beat”, then knowing what your favourite drummer’s hitting and knowing where that epic sound is coming from becomes important and valuable to you. I know when I was learning in my early days, Jose Pasillas II, the drummer from Incubus, was my biggest hero and his style influenced my in buying some of the cymbals he uses.
